Construction Manager

A construction manager, also known as a project manager, is an individual with specialized expertise and knowledge in managing various aspects of construction projects. These professionals play a crucial role in overseeing the entire construction process, from the initial planning stages to the completion of the project, and ensure that the final outcome meets the requirements, quality standards, and vision of the client.

In the residential construction sector, the construction manager's primary responsibility is to supervise and coordinate different phases of the project, including design, permitting, procurement, scheduling, cost estimation, quality control, and on-site construction. This requires liaising with various stakeholders such as architects, engineers, builders, subcontractors, suppliers, and the homeowners themselves.

Construction managers must possess excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills to manage and resolve issues that may arise during the construction process.

In terms of qualifications, a construction manager typically holds a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, along with relevant certifications such as the Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) or the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation. In many cases, industry experience in construction supervision or project management is considered valuable and often essential for successful performance in this role.
