Housing and urban development (HUD)

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a government agency dedicated to developing strong communities, expanding access to affordable housing, and promoting home ownership. HUD works with local governments, nonprofit organizations, business leaders, and developers to create residential construction projects that provide safe and affordable housing options for families across the country. The agency's primary goal is to help ensure all Americans have access to safe, secure housing.

HUD also works with lenders and insurance providers, as well as providing education and outreach programs to help people become informed consumers of housing policies. Additionally, HUD provides resources for fair housing enforcement so that everyone is treated equally in the pursuit of home ownership.
